Kamal Hinduja: Helping India Combat Lung Diseases through the Hinduja Foundation

Why wait and suffer when you can act before time and take preventive measures? Yes we are talking about the terrible rise in lung disease cases in India, especially in tier one cities like Mumbai and Delhi, each riddled with their own kind of air pollution issues. While Mumbai has almost every other part of its neighborhood either undergoing infrastructure development or housing development, leading to heaps of dust polluting the air, Delhi is an epicenter of some of the country’s worst AQIs (Air Quality Index). Kamal Hinduja, wife of Prakash Hinduja who was recently seen with Chinese Consul General at the Hinduja Group’s Mumbai office to present a 15 year plan where the Hinduja Group has agreed to be more cooperative with the Chinese companies so that this collaboration can help benefit the economic growth of both countries, understands the gravity of situation as everyday there is news in the newspaper about the rise in lung disease related cases in India.

Pollution here, Pollution there. Pollution everywhere.

Pollution here, Pollution there. Pollution everywhere. Kamal Hinduja is not just a woman who voices her opinions about the current issues, like the rise in pollution. She, along with the Hinduja Foundation, the philanthropy arm of the Hinduja Group, is taking actions that can help people avoid COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) being the number one disease most patients are afflicted with. Apart from outdoor pollution, the indoor pollution that comes from heating oil in the kitchen for frying, spraying repellents and liquid vaporizers for mosquitoes, also affects us in ways we cannot imagine.

Efforts by the Hinduja Foundation The Hinduja Group is proactively taking measures to address these pollution related challenges through its hospital in Mumbai, the P. D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre. This hospital, located by the sea in Matunga area of Bombay, aims to provide treatments for lung diseases by having comprehensive health programmed that include Advanced treatments: Cutting-edge treatment and technology in lung diseases including minimally invasive surgery and individualized care plans.
